Projected districts kept separate
The districts below are not included in the verified official totals because the site's 2026-2027 data still marks them as projected, not official.
What the dates tell you
The big picture.
Sixty-five Florida districts currently have official 2026-2027 start dates in this site's data. Thirty-six start on August 10. The remaining official districts fall into four groups:
- Earlier than August 10: Hamilton (Aug 5) (1 district)
- August 11: Bradford, Clay, Collier, Franklin, Gadsden, Gilchrist, Hardee, Hernando, Highlands, Lee, Okaloosa, Orange, Pinellas, Polk, Sumter, Taylor, Walton (17 districts)
- August 12: Escambia, Holmes, Jackson, Leon, Liberty, Monroe, Union, Washington (8 districts)
- August 13: Calhoun, Miami-Dade, Pasco (3 districts)
Notable outlier in the official data
- Hamilton: August 5 (5 days earlier than the standard)
What this means for your family
- Joint-custody families - If parents live in different counties, compare start dates. A one-day difference can create a scheduling headache, and the current official data includes gaps much larger than one day.
- Kindergarten & Pre-K - Even if the district starts August 10, your child's first day might be later because of orientation or staggered entry. Check your school's website.
- Summer planning - Most official Florida district calendars in this dataset start between August 10 and August 13. Hamilton is the early outlier at August 5, so families with cross-county schedules should compare calendars before booking travel or child care.
