The big picture.

Sixty-five Florida districts currently have official 2026-2027 start dates in this site's data. Thirty-six start on August 10. The remaining official districts fall into four groups:

Notable outlier in the official data

  • Hamilton: August 5 (5 days earlier than the standard)

What this means for your family

  • Joint-custody families - If parents live in different counties, compare start dates. A one-day difference can create a scheduling headache, and the current official data includes gaps much larger than one day.
  • Kindergarten & Pre-K - Even if the district starts August 10, your child's first day might be later because of orientation or staggered entry. Check your school's website.
  • Summer planning - Most official Florida district calendars in this dataset start between August 10 and August 13. Hamilton is the early outlier at August 5, so families with cross-county schedules should compare calendars before booking travel or child care.
